November 23, 2019 - YouTubeLast season I had a close encounter with an antlered doe and didn't shoot it. I'm allowed 1 buck tag per year and didn't want to burn it on something that wasn't huge (which is funny because I ended up shooting a small buck last yr). Anyway, I started having remorse over the decision after thinking about it some... in 33 years of bowhunting this is first antlered doe I've ever seen. In the whole scheme of things it might even be more rare than the magical 200" that I dream of. Last week I hunted the same area and I think I saw her. It was 60yds away and in brush, she was with 2 fawns and another doe, looked like a mass on her head. I might start targeting her. The catch; I've never had an animal mounted. Kind of saving that for something special but I told the wife if I decide to shoot her it will get mounted. What's your guys's experiences: is an antlered doe really that rare, worth ending your season, worth getting a mount? Next question; I don't know mounts, never paid much attention to them. What pose would be best for a rack like this? I'm assuming a sneaking type thing where it's head is low and the neck is kind of stretched out due to the fact that most of what's to be seen is low and on top.

Targeting hormonally challenged females is a slippery slope. Just ask SD about Puerto Rico Sheila.

Targeting hormonally challenged females is a slippery slope. Just ask SD about Puerto Rico Sheila. Probably should have never said that I might target her as that's the best way for me to assure I'll never see her again. Got to keep my intentions in my pocket! Puerto Rico Sheila is just one of those things you don't bring up.

You bet. Some hooker tries to kidnap me, we've game planned different close combat scenarios in small chick vehicles. If she's alone for example and she gets me in the vehicle, I will give her the cute meow and big eyes until she lets me out of the carrier. Then when she ain't expecting it, I'll be on top of her head rest with claws extended saying the prayer from Boondock Saints before I eliminate the threat.

Great movie and great quote! 2nd only to Ezekiel 25-17 in Pulp Fiction. Or maybe the "Desert point five oh... little mincey faggot balls" in Snatch... (not a prayer but great speech anyhow).
