Never heard of them Sandbur. "Clark in KS" says they don't handle our sun well (according to smsmith's link).
A little off from the habit theme of this forum, but does anyone grow fruit and berries in containers for personal use?

A little off from the habit theme of this forum, but does anyone grow fruit and berries in containers for personal use? I have a handful of blueberries growing in 10-15 gallon landscape pots. Filled them with peat moss and planted the bushes. They've stayed alive for 3 years now. I need to protect them and change things up if I ever want to get a decent crop from them. I also grow red raspberries for personal use, but they are not in pots.

I had about half of the trees that I'm starting in containers get cut off at the base last winter. Not sure how I want to protect my over-winter projects. If I had a convenient way to protect things like this I could see me growing quite a bit in containers.

No packrats here, but the deer and bunnies will nip them off if you don't protect them. I use aluminum window screen and hog wire cages.
