How long does it take Ag lime to work. For instance if my soil is at a ph of 5.5 and I add Ag lime at the recommended rate how long will it take the ph to be acceptable?? Thanks in advance.

Take it from a guy that farms ground in the 5.5 range and was 200 customers in the 5.5 range or worse, down to 4.7. You may never get your ground to 7. Or you may go broke trying. Learn to farm with low PH if it don't happen is what I tell everyone.

What are you planning on growing that you need a pH of 7?
6.5 or a bit less works for many crops.

You don't need 7.0 PH to grow alfalfa. Would it be ideal, yep, but not needed. Its done everywhere with no lime.

Ya, 6.5 will get it done. I had told the guy a near neutral ph was required for the best yields. 6.5 is "near neutral" in my book. I haven't limed much here and my clover/alfalfa plots are lush. Upper 5s and low 6s for native ph

I have guys planting Vernel Alfalfa on blow sand with a 5 PH. Do they get a crop? Yep, and if it rains a damn good crop. And Vernel is only less than $2 a pound.

That's about the only way I'd grow alfalfa for deer. Deer don't give a shit if it's $2 alfalfa or $20 alfalfa. I see guys talking about planting RR alfalfa in foodplots (illegally) and just shake my head.

We are almost half price to those guys. Do you sell vernal by the lb. or only in 50 lb. bags? I'm probably going to pick up 5-10 lbs. before spring. Also, what's a 50 lb. bag of crimson clover run?
