My wife and I asked the girls, ‘ pork chops, ham, chicken, turkey?’
They picked venison steak, probably marinated, and on the grill if weather permits.

I voted prime rib and wife brought home a 13 lb cooked ham. Precooked ham kind of boring to me. Button buck shoulder in the oven tonite. Super simple. Kick myself all the deer shoulder I threw in the ditch when I was younger.

Kick myself all the deer shoulder I threw in the ditch when I was younger. How do you do yours in the oven? Time/temp? We’ve braised one in beer for 15 hours or so on 250. Turned out really good.

I ordered 4 racks of ribs, 8 sausage links, and a bottle of original sauce from Rudy's BBQ. Mrs Kooch and I used to eat there at the original that was half gas station half BBQ joint. This was back in my USAF days, during my last assignment in San Antonio. Now they are a chain. I hope it's as good as it was before. But, I'm confident it won't be for a lot of reasons. Mrs Kooch is also making some sort of corn casserole, dinner rolls, and a pie.

Pan big enough to hold shoulder, olive oil salt pepper at 375 or higher to brown, add can of beer and cover with foil and drop to 300 or lower until its falls off bones. May need another beer en route. 4 ish + hours.
Hard to keep it warm unless you just tear it apart and keep it in a bowl etc.

Have not done any old swamp bucks but 2.5 year olds no prob. Similar to pulled pork.
Always tossed the shoulders as it was a pain to pull the meat.
