It looks like absolute hell on earth is rolling into camp this morning and will be here through tomorrow. The whole reason I have been building ground blinds is to extend my season. Well the best opportunity to test them is here. Should I hunt this morning as this shit rolls in? I'm thinking so. Once there's enough wind roaring to cover the sound of me accessing, I'd head out (with a heater). Seems like a great story shaping up if it comes together.

It might be a good time to hunt, but don’t put too much pressure on the deer. It could be a long winter.

Today might be fine but after the storm is the best deer action.

Once the winds die down I bet it will be awesome hunting...if it isn’t too cold and the deer wait out the cold.

I made it 90 minutes in the blind. I was bored more than anything. I just didn't get the feeling anything was going to come out giving home hard it was blowing. And that was in the quiet corner of the property.

I would go as soon as the wind is predicted to die down. Be there waiting for them when the wind actually dies down.
I am getting soft now but when I use to bow hunt when it was -20 the deer never fed early morning it was always middle of the day. I am a slow learner and took me a lot of cold sits before I figured that out. Yep not the smartest lad.

Several years ago, I went out on the second to last evening of season, just to say had done it. It was cold. I had a heater body suit and hand warmers. I saw two fawns, but didn’t really want to shoot and gut a deer in that weather anyway. Kind of like many of this fall partridge and pheasant hunts. I quit carrying the gun and just worked with the dog.

The Tactacam showed deer got on their feet last night as soon as the snow stopped. Most action I’ve had on my cam in a while. I think the deer were migrating for the winter.

I may just try to get my last day or two of cutting done and head back home.
