I planted my white oak acorns in early December. When will I see a sprout?? I’m in west central Illinois.

Taproot will grow over the winter whenever it's warm enough, sprout will show up next spring in warm weather. I believe that's how it will work for you.

Where did you plant them? In the field or containers? Like Cat said white oak acorns sprout tap roots in the fall. Red oak acorns require cold stratification. Theyllsprout thw following spring if protected.

Then as Cat said they’ll be growing a tap through the winter and should sprout a leader in the spring. They’ll sometimes sprout a leader in the fall as well. The reds and chestnuts won’t until the following spring.
