Yep, I've got some Bebb's willows here. They don't seem to get much taller than 10' or so, and then they start dying off. Take the chainsaw and whack them off around knee height and you'll get a whole bunch of new growth. Mine grow in areas too wet for much else to grow

That was what I topped the new hoog off with last week. I had some laying by the edge of camp and hauled a sled load over to the pile. Some of mine get pretty big, pushing 6" thick at the base and over 10' tall. Do your deer ever browse the new growth?

Our neighbor at the cabin makes some pretty cool stuff out of Diamond Willow. He made me a full 4 legged lamp out of it as well as a coat rack. I wish I could identify the stuff in the field cause I think it's pretty sweet stuff.

The trunks are almost never straight or smooth. There's always seems to be buttcracks and cha cha's somewhere on them. When I cut them down, there is often some rot or deformity to the big ones.

I have a few acres of diamond willow here at home in the flood plain. Down side is a power line goes through it and power company mows under the lines every several years. So most never gets gnarly and big.
