There is so much difference in state numbers, reporting, and actual cases. Hard to accurately compare anything. For instance; I just checked a map that shows Florida in the green but KS in the worst of the reds. KS has basically been completely open with no masks and optional vax rules for close to a yr... I'm guessing very similar to Florida. The thing is; nobody is testing anymore unless they end up in the hospital. Like Trump said about testing or not testing, don't want bad numbers for the press then don't test much. Student absences are on par with every other yr pre covid. Lots of older people were hit in the last couple of months though, seems to be more than last year. Hospitals are full. A friend was air lifted to MO because the local hospitals and even Wichita could find a bed for him. What I've read about Omicron is that it isn't very significant or deadly. In which case that's an expected evolution, and exactly what we need. Imagine a way to be exposed to a virus in a way that builds immunity but does not make you very sick. Of course once again it's difficult to know what's somewhat correct and what's narrative. . We have had some older people get sick lately and it seems to be those who have stayed isolated for the last 20 months or so. My Dad always said, ‘Liars figure and figures lie!’ Don’t know what to believe anymore. most of the others in this rural community had it months ago.

So FL's one of the most open places in the US and they are the leader in LOW covid numbers, My state...is the worst.....go figure.

Same for my wife, same for my daughter. Nothing fir any of us. Get out, suck up some vitamin D, let your immune system do it’s job and just say Fuck it. And stop watching the news and or the people that are profiting from this bullshit, then it goes away in one month.

First US case of the Moronic variant was fully vaccinated. Why do they call it a vaccine?

If I got the shot, does that mean I could get the virus, not know it and pass it to someone else? Doesn’t the vaccine allow you to be a carrier and unaware? I’d hate to spread it to me parents. I’m 48. Could lose a few pounds but not in a really high risk category. Just looking at some of the old posts in this thread. Have we gone a full circle yet?

We now know you can get the shot, still get the rona, know you have it and spread it to whoever. I can now add that everyone I know getting the rona the last few months has also been “vaccinated “

I caught a colossal cold from my neighbor while at the Gopher game on Sat (he didn't tell me he caught a cold....or I would not have gone with him). My symtoms started the morning we had to fly out (Tuesday) and I took all the usual drugs to get through the flight. A cold like I got whould be pretty rough on my wife right now......as she has some lung issues remaining from her surgery (fluid builds up around her lungs.....and she is taking some meds to keep the fluids at bay. Covid would be worse.
Today I bought a home covid test and did same. Negative test. Glad this is "just a cold"......but I am kinda ticked at my neighbor.......though it was a great game. I would not have gone had I known he was sick. Grrrrrr.

I try not to play the blame game when it comes to getting sick. With the covid, flu, and colds being so prevalent up in Minnesota right now, putting blame on your neighbor just creates unjustified animosity between you both. You can pick up a cold from anywhere. Restaurants, fleet farm, menards, home depot, Walmart, gas stations, seed store, etc. Unless you completely isolate yourself from every facet of life it's useless thinking that 1 specific thing is the cause for a sickness.

Who do you think you are? Doctor Fauci? Grin. I spent 12 hours with my neighbor on Saturday. 3 hours each way in the same truck. I drove to the city, we had a few meals and beers together. He was visibly sick with a cold that he got on his trip to Europe.....just getting back on the Thursday before the big game on Sat. I had not seen him until I picked him up in his driveway. Couching spells and such came later. He was talking about going to the doctor. and told me he had been sick since getting on the plane to come back to MN. He was the only one that was visibly sick that I saw all day. He had taken enough meds to keep it at bay for most of the drive into the game.....but could not control it all day. I KNOW where I got my cold. I won't say a word about it to him....unless my wife gets this same cold. Even then? ....dunno. I am just venting. I just think when you know you are sick and live next door to us and know what my wife has gone through.....and know what she continues to go thru.......that most folks would have told me of the cold they were carrying. I've worked pretty hard to keep well for over a year. Avoided this kinda chit whenever possible. There should not have been a "blame game". Poor judgement. I wish I had not gone to that football game. I don't feel real good about myself for flying on that plane with a cold or getting here to OZ and being sick. Lots of our friends want to see my wife and I after all she has gone though. It's a nasty cold....and could be catastrophic if my wife gets it. Very likely I am spot on.

I don’t want to start a pissing match but didn’t you just do a similar thing? Got on a plane while sick. Did you sit by your wife or travel in a car with her.

Yeah....and I am not very happy about doing that either. Woke up at 4 am to go to the airport......had just a bit of a sore throat. Gargled and took prevent meds (IBP and Sudafed and Zinc). By the time we were flying I was quite certain I was getting the cold. Would I have cancelled my flight otherwise. Dunno. Was hoping it was just a sniffle and gonna be gone. I am one of those guys that gets that fairly often. No further comment. Seems my views get too much dissent anymore. Bite me.

I hope things work out ok for you and your wife.
I don’t know much about those home covid tests, but do the directions indicate a later retest might be needed?
I can agree with both wade and Tom’s point of view. The average person needs to go on with life and ignore / forget worrying about the respiratory diseases.
Foggy and his wife are special cases and they need to be especially careful. I understand his concern.
