Old school long clear hose and water. After some researching, this doesn't seem like such a difficult thing to do.

during a dry summer could you run a bulldozer on your land?
I'm thinking if you had a pond in the middle it would be easy for a dozer to start at the lowest pond elevation and grade away and make some drainage spokes that drain to the pond.
The guy who did some field drainage work for me had a gps unit on his bulldozer that he could use to tell the elevation as he worked. It is about $1000/day for that bulldozer work, but they can get a ton of work done in a day.

Have you looked to see what is available via lidar mapping? Some of the stuff out there is amazing. Sorry haven’t read all the post so not sure what level of details you are wanting.

Running watches have elevation change. There are a couple of different types (I think). I won't use the GPS on my phone for running because it isn't accurate, the one on my Garmin is very accurate for distance. Never checked it's elevation. Have you tried something like this? I used draftlogic to calculate distances when they were doing our electric and water lines. It checked out almost exactly the same as what the surveyors got. www.freemaptools.com/elevation-finder.htm

Bachman is a babe. I got a thing for blue eyed brunettes.
And those tiddies don’t need a laser level. There has been no loss of elevation.

I had the northwoods mapping guy send me what I think was a LIDAR image of my place. There wasn't enough detail. My whole property is very flat with very subtle changes in elevation that give me standing water and sudden contrast in ground cover and tree makeup. What I'm finding with the apps and tools is that they aren't precise enough. If this were the other property, those tools would work great because there is probably 25' of up and down. My place is so flat, the 2' contour map doesn't change across the whole property, and the lines don't make any sense where there are lines.

I think I'm gonna have to go with Tooln's suggestion on the water level. I've already got the engineering team working on a cool one man design. Gonna give this one away for free, cause there's probably nothing there to patent. But it's gonna be something!

So we were on track to have a prototype built by noon tomorrow, but our adhesives and polymers guy hasn't called us back. May have to go forward without him and risk the $25 on the first build. Progress doesn't wait for common sense.

Effective immediately, the polymers guy is no longer with Dogwood Mapping & Survey.
