is it common for Deer to eat grass during the winter? Normally we have so much snow that the grass is unavailable. They seem to be eating it after leaving the corn foodplot, perhaps to balance acidosis?? They do not seem to be digging for alfalfa much yet. They are eating some browse.

Perhaps the grass over my drain field is especially tasty!

I think when it's as cold as it is, deer will fill their gut with whatever is available.

They like to eat or bed on grass areas near timber. Seem to always find sheds in grassy areas by woods.

I'm not surprised by what deer eat anymore. I'm prepared to see them browsing rebar and licking the solar panels. I've seen them nibble at nearly everything.

I've watched them eat some grasses but not others (never switch). I'm looking at planting Eastern Gamagrass sometime this yr for deer. Good cover (somewhat tall) and something deer will eat in the right conditions. You guys up north probably have deer eating stuff they won't touch down here.

The deer have been hitting random patches of grass by my house as well. It is pretty odd because I don't recall them hitting grass patches that hard in the past.

They like this part of the lawn. I could be wrong, but I think that’s a dog.
