Honestly, I imagine 90%+ of its use will be riding around the dirt roads with my wife in the evenings. Probably hit a few bars with it from time to time too. My trail system isn't designed for vehicles as large as side by sides and I don't envision widening the trails. I suppose it may do a bit of orchard work too. How's your wife feel about it, and how long do you intend to keep this particular expense? Maybe you need a tandem electric bicycle... She's wanted one for awhile. I've just been putting off the purchase...I'm kind of a tightwad I'd like for whatever we get to last a long time. I'm not a "trade it in for a new one" kinda guy for the most part. I'm a "write the check and maintain the thing until the wheels fall off" kinda guy.

How does she feel about comforts; bid deal, or doesn't mind showing up to the bar a little dusty and sweaty? She grew up on a half section row crop and beef feedlot farm. She's used to getting dirty and sweaty That said, I'm sure she'd prefer to be comfortable and not dusty. I'm figuring front and back windshield and some kind of door system to be bare minimum requirements. I'd prefer to spend $18-$20K instead of $25K+...but I suppose biting the bullet and getting all the bells and whistles would be nice.

What’s the benefit of a $25K UTV that couldn’t be achieved with a used Wrangler with a hard top?
Honest question.

What’s the benefit of a $25K UTV that couldn’t be achieved with a used Wrangler with a hard top? Honest question. That's a great question! I've looked at the Suzuki Samurai, Geo Tracker, old Bronco's (ride in style), mini-trucks, and even a 4x4 Smart Car (google it). I like the Samurai for the price of used stuff. Could have a neat little ride for the back road for a lot less cost than a UTV. From my point of view the benefit of UTV over a small 4x4 is tighter turning radius, and less damage to grass while wet/muddy. Another option if it's mainly a backroads type of vehicle is a lifted golf cart.

Even better. What a keep was meant to be! And they aren't sponsored by Springsteen!

This seems like the kind of exercise where a guy has to look at everything and see how many birds you can kill. You've got the plow truck, the billy goat, and the four wheeler. If you do this purchase right, can you get rid of any of those other machines? Get creative enough, and this thing will finance itself. I wouldn't be a good internet friend if I didn't mention:

Nope, this purchase would replace none of what I currently have. It would replace some miles on our pickup, that's about it.

Gun rack, lift kit if available. They stuck in the snow but if they just had more ground clearance they would go through anything.
