It is stupid because the state kill quota was around 200, but they give half to the Indians who won't hunt them. So rather than give their quota to those who want to hunt, they only allow 120 or so to be killed. But the hunters/trappers shot that in 3 days, so I'm sure there are far more wolves than they say.
But I'm just happy they killed some wolves before the anti hunters force them back on the endangered species list. Hopefully lots were killed by my land up there!

Ben the Quota was 200 and they gave 81 to the Indians per treaty agreements leaving 119 quota for the rest.. With that said the harvest went over quota and by tomorrow the harvest will more than likely be over 200. Quota will be met even with giving the tribes a quota of 81.

The wolf population is terribly low.
So are walleyes in mille lacs. Thats why walleyes are so easy to catch and u can keep zero.
Believe the govt run DNR.
Ugh

I'm happy to hear they will get around 200 wolves. That will save a lot of deer in the part of the state that could use some more deer.

I'm happy to hear they will get around 200 wolves. That will save a lot of deer in the part of the state that could use some more deer. Lets see......200 wolves x 90 deer (ave killed / wolf) = 18,000 deer are gonna be around due to wolves taken out of circulation. .....And, that is just first year result. Seems like a good trade-off to me. EDIT: OK In fairness I also have heard that each wolf "ONLY" kills 20 deer per year. So, doing the math on that means 200x20=4,000 deer per year. Now I only can kill ONE deer per year on my license. So that means that wolves have more "rights" to the deer than I do. The whole world is F'd up. F'n Biden.

Well done Cheeseheads, well done. Too bad with our Lt. Governor here in MN having such an anti-wolf hunt stance that we likely won't be having a hunt here soon enough.
The MN DNR is probably wondering how fast the deer would vanish if we were allowed to hunt them with bait, dogs, 24 hour shooting, and traps, all when they are the only thing open to hunt and the ground is frozen.

Are the hides being viewed as a trophy or are the hides being sold for fur? What is the going rate on the fur market?

Sure seems that if the quota was reached in a few days or was too low.

The hides should be excellent with that cold spell we had a couple weeks ago. Any wolves with a thin pelt should have died after that weather.
