Ok picture a 1/3 acre plot with a few small stumps—already cleared basically. Then add a trail maybe 10x 100 yds long to the field with literally easy brush and about 5 crappy Boxelder trees. How long would it take to doze that area out? I could attach a pic . I got a quote this afternoon and I nearly fell over.

Small jobs cost a lot more per acre than big jobs. I bet you were quoted $3K.

Small jobs cost a lot more per acre than big jobs. I bet you were quoted $3K. Close $3800-4000 I thought it’d take 2-3 hours max. The trail going in is actually only 55 yds. The trees are small Time for Plan B. I don’t need a little plot that bad.

God it cant take that many hours to do what you are talking about.

This is why I was happy to overpay my local resource. At least, it seemed like I overpaid. But, I've made an internal oath to start being cheap.
I got quotes for "At least $3,000 an acre, no less. Might be more if we run into something unexpected." from the commercial dudes you find with google searches.

This is after a guy spent multiple hours cutting down storm damaged trees. 18 cords worth of firewood. It’s just a few stumps and a short trail. I could easily chainsaw the trail in 3 hours with a buddy. I was guessing under a $1000

Can’t be more than a half days work so figure a full day. $3,800 seems a bit ridiculous. They must be busy enough to not want to do it.

Clearing this cost me $400. I underpaid. He quoted me a price and stuck too it even though it took him a lot longer than he thought it would. It was already sort of open, but not like this.

Kooch Is that the same area u just had opened way up? No. This is a little 1/4 acre thing on the Western border of my property. The old neighbors over there were horrible hunters and would chase deer off their place onto mine every day. I sat here and watched deer every morning, then afternoon. I just never saw a buck, all does and fawns. My new neighbor is a deer killing machine, he and his family, so I think I'm done planting food there. Here's the view from the opposite direction. There's a ground blind in that pile of brush. If I'm going to keep this, I need to do something about the view from the road. You can literally look right up this from the road when the leaves fall. Maybe I'll transplant a couple Spruce trees that'll block the view in 10 years.
