Another liberal talking point that fails. Democrats claimed Trump paid zero taxes for many many years, as Rachel Maddow someone got one of his returns which showed he paid in 30 million+
Turns out that was all a lie. He has paid in plenty, not to even mention his property tax, SS tax, payroll tax...etc..

Paid in at 25% effective rate for federal too. The majority of the $17M in itemized deductions on the return are probably state and local taxes. If 12M was state and local tax, combined effective tax rate would be closer to 33%. Self employment tax total was about 1.8M, and the SS wage base was 90k in 2005, all but 11k of that would have been paid into Medicare.
Trump did like to play into the by making comments about paying very little in taxes. When people were going crazy about the $900M NOL from the 90s it showed that most people don't understand taxes.

Client copy...makes you wonder who leaked them. If Trump leaked his own taxes, that means he had to go through 12 years of tax returns to find 2 pages that didn't make him look bad.
Just food for thought.

Why would he leak them to Rachel Maddow?

Paying 1/4 of your income in taxes sucks.
Is effective rate tax/total income (line 22 on 1040) X 100?
If so you bitches are probably subsidizing my kids because that figure is like 3% for me.

I am in the 25% bracket. It sucks! But the same country that I pay the 25% in to, is the country that allowed me to be successful! Even with high taxes, it's a great place to live!

If you doubt it, go to Germany or England. That is the best that socialism has to offer. They are OK places to visit but it would suck to live there.

Anybody who thinks successful people want to lose money to get a write off have no idea how our tax code works.
Wealthy people would rather pay 25% (cents) of tax on a dollar than lose the dollar and file for a 25 cent write off. People complain about taxes but they have to make money to have a tax liability. I would much rather make the money then save on taxes. Trump has paid way more tax dollars over his life than most people even if he had years where his effective rate was low.
Does Trump use write-offs to lower his taxes, yes, as much as the lawful tax code will let him. I'm sure Trump has excellent accountants but they still follow the law and he gets audited. The tax code is suppose to let corporations write off losses therefore offsetting profits and encouraging companies to take risk.
Trump is a target because he is rich and not a Democrat.

There are no such thing as "loopholes" in taxes as dems frequently say. There are people who use the tax law to the best of their benefit and there are those who do not.
