I need to hit a few of my clover plots with clethodim. I know grasses are supposed to be actively growing. Seems like they are, anybody sprayed cleth this early with good results?

Good article, sounds like if you need to spray cleth you would need to double your rate, if I read that correctly
"Longer answer: Twice as much clethodim is required to kill susceptible annual ryegrass if the product is applied after three days of frost. Even higher rates are required if the plants have resistance to clethodim."

I've never sprayed clethodim this early, but our grass is growing good down here so I'm pretty sure it would work well now. I'm planning on spraying some clethodim within the next couple weeks once I check off the other 50 items I have on my to-do list.

After reading that article, I'm going to wait until we have nights without freezing temps and daytime highs in the upper 60s/low 70s

Weeds are growing but not actively growing. It may take 2-3 weeks before you see results. That is how long Glyphosate is taking right now on burn down.

Thanks for the info on Gly, I just sprayed around a bunch of my trees this morning.

I've sprayed gly early and late in the year and had decent results...but it may take quite awhile to see them. Gly is pretty cheap and if I need to re-apply it's not a big deal. I'd rather not spray cleth when environmental conditions aren't what they should be.

I put off spraying cleth due to overnight freezing temps...then due to a lack of rain. I know spraying when plants are drought stressed isn't ideal. I figure I'm going to give it a shot tomorrow and hope for the best.
edit...got my acre of wildflowers, 3 clover plots totaling a bit over an acre, and an acre of clover at the neighbor's sprayed this morning. Now to wait for what always seems like a month to see results.

Even some of the RCG I hit looks like it's dying.

I sprayed some a week and a half ago and I'm not seeing much change.
I normally think it doesn't work then a month later the grass melts away. I'm hoping that is the case but I'm worried the drought may mess that up.
