Anyone have any on their land? I have a few, but just planted another 12. Past plantings have been average, sold the one property that had a few decent ones. Not sure what to think?

I have them at both locations, or hybrids. I can’t really tell, there are variations in leaf structure and acorn size.

They seem to grow so slow, but I might not be planting them on the right soils. Cool looking trees, we have a few up at my FIL cabin near Outing, acorns are plentiful.

I have some pin oak but they are mature trees that I did not plant. I probably have more acorn production out of them and anything else.

I find lots of pin oak acorns still on the ground most springs. They probably provide some needed nutrition at that time. They obviously aren't highly sought after in the fall though.

I know the acorns are preferred by wood ducks near ponds. I remember guys telling me that they found them packed in pouch of woodies.

I think these are pin oaks by my stand (Otter Tail County) popping up everywhere!

I cleared out around this pin oak last winter and it really shot up the past year. I’ve been finding more of them growing up out the middle of hazelnut and birch “cages”.
