About 70% of my Grin scion is awake. My rootstock wont be here for about 2 weeks. None of my stock from others is awake. Idk how to slow it down or what the heck to do.

That's a tough one. What I've read is that when your scions start waking up, it's best to get them grafted...but if your existing trees haven't broken dormancy and you don't have rootstocks I don't know what to say.

No fruit in the fridge, right? That's what I was thinking too. The only other thing would be warmth. Are they in the top of the fridge? Can you ask for your rootstock to be delivered sooner? My GRIN scions are doing fine. I did wax both ends when I got them.

I've read of putting scions in a snow bank too. Not sure if you have any snow or how far they've budded?

Ya, the only thing I could think of (besides making sure there's no fruit in the fridge) would be to drop the storage temperature.

Its to late to drop a temp at this point w/ the fridge. 1 real early variety has half a freakin leaf. No idea if I'll be able to recoop much, big time bummer.

I'd still move them to the top shelf. It may delay them enough to salvage some. On most models that is the coldest spot in the fridge. Crispers are more on the warmer side.

BV,
If you had your rootstock shipped for Monday delivery you could skip the trip and graft in peace and quiet. Tell the wife you had to get them done sooner than later due to the scions.

Have you asked for them to ship the rootstock earlier?
