Was taking the dogs down the driveway this morning to do their duties when one of them started into the ditch barking, 25 yards away a doe stood up, hair on her back standing up, ready to defend the little spotted thing laying at her feet. I could see the beaten down grass, I'm sure she had the fawn right there alongside my driveway. I yelled at my dogs and started back up the driveway while the fawn struggled to its feet and followed the doe away.
I've noticed that in the past, that does will have/hide their fawns close to my house in order to keep them away from predators. Was planning on getting my mower on my tractor and doing some mowing today but looks like i missed my window....

I've noticed them bringing the fawns close to the house as well. Pretty amazing that they understand it's safer that way. I've seen tiny tracks the last few days on my walks but haven't found any yet.

I ran over a fawn with my atv bedded by our old farmhouse. I was going to hook up my mower..... parked the atv and left. Fawn got up and wobbled off

I ran over a fawn with my lawn mower while mowing a sidewalk through a red clover patch. What a sickening sound!
One path through a 2 plus acre field and I hit a fawn.

Luckily the little guy moved just in time. Or at least appeared that way. Didn’t see any blood and he ran off and then laid down again. I no don’t know what I’d do if he would have been mulched.
