One side of the property we planted apple trees about 20 to 30 yards outside the timber edge with clover surrounding them and one water hole within shooting range of the blind. We have about 2 acres of beans that butt up to the clover. On the interior of the property, we have another food plot surrounded by timber that we have planted corn along with 2 more water holes on each end of the food plot. I didn't see anyone talking about water on here so I brought it up since people are always looking for new ideas to help improve their property. Yes, I am affiliated with the company and I did design that product along with other products. I am simply looking for feed back if anyone has used them and what they liked about the product or didn't like. This product could help some people with their need for water on a property.

The ag stock tanks don't look or smell nature like the Water Hole / Earth Pond. It is made with real dirt imbedded into the fiberglass which gives it textured side to allow small animals to escape not stick is needed. Up north bears seam to mess with the plastic water tanks more I'm not sure why. You can place them in a food plot but the two problems you will run into is that most of the deer that will drink from it are Does the mature bucks prefer to drink within cover so I place them just inside the woods on their way to the food plot. The other issue is that placing them out in the open they will tend to dry up faster from the sun.

Sorry I deleted that post, was just kidding. Western IA Good spot to try these as water is premium most years. Not a lot of natural ponds. Small creeks.

I love my water hole and keep a camera on it year round. Never hunted over it, but I don't hunt food plots either so just consider me an outlier in hunting styles. I've never filled my water hole... just let it go dry when Foggy stops his rain dances. Deer still visit it when dry just to snoop around and check things out. Pretty sure it's a hub for scent checking the locals much like a community scrape. I ended up lining mine with gravel to reduce the environment for midges. I'd hate to cause an outbreak of EHD.

With the high temps we are seeing in the Midwest right now water is important for not just the deer but all wildlife. I just got back from making sure my deer ponds were full since the animals are hitting the water sources more frequently now. What are you guys and galls seeing where your property is.

I've got a bit over a mile of meandering frontage along an environmental lake full of floating bogs, tamaracks, and tag alders. Also got about 1/4 mile of ditch/creek that never runs dry (yet anyway). Plenty of natural water here.
That said, some dug in cattle troughs would still likely get some wildlife activity in a drought

Two of my ponds no longer have much flowage, but still hold water and I see trails going to them. I need to check the others.
I had lived here a few years and found an old cattle watering hole that wasn’t very big, about the size of a small bathroom.
A dry year is a good time to dig an area a bit deeper, if it is legal.

If I start worrying about moisture, everyone else better have bugged out already. This one took me 4 hours with a mini ex. Had I known how to run it from the start, it probably should have only taken 2.

What’s the largest plastic/landscape pond you guys have installed. I’m thinking about 200+ gallons in a couple locations.

No not yet. But open to ideas . Plastic ponds or cement possibly would be ideal . We have some EHD/midges that like the mud.

Seems like whatever you use for a tank you need a way to flush the inevitable residue that will accumulate at the bottom. Plastics might have more options.

Luckily we have not seen any signs of EHD by our farm or the neighbors. However, a farm in the general area was hit hard (10 bucks found dead). We do not have cattle in our area, which helps.
