This is from the MDHA magazine. I found it interesting that they cut back all competition within 27 feet of young oaks. It sounds like this is done a bit after a timber harvest. Why 17 and not 18 feet? Must be some metric calculation. The article did not say how many times this needs to be done. As tag alders move in on my spruce plantings, I need to release 2-3 times .

Step one of many in the sumac area, lots of young oaks to release . Buckthorn to remove.
