Well boys. Trying some new shit here on the farm. I have a customer that has planted Soybeans 23 years in a row on the same sand field. He has probably averaged in the 30’s for yield, with one recent year close to 50 bu. I am on year 4 with this one field just to see what happens and how much it costs me. So far averaged about 40+ for the first 3 years. Food plot guys take notice. Rotation is nice, but if beans are a big draw on your land, back to back beans may be the ticket. Saw this big fucking turtle while golf cart drinking and driving.
Lol

Lol Has hit yield lowered over the years or has it stayed consistent? Is he putting in cover crops or anything after harvest? Is he no till or conventional till?

Lol Has hit yield lowered over the years or has it stayed consistent? Is he putting in cover crops or anything after harvest? Is he no till or conventional till? FIL has been planting beans in the same field for a long time (15yrs? or more); notill, no drop in yields, no fert, no cover crops. Yields vary from year to year but it's usually in the mid to upper 40's. We probably have different pests to deal with down here than you guys have north. He hires a sprayer for the weeds, mostly Palmer and Johnsongrass. I pull a few plants every yr to count pods and beans per pod. Weed competition is a big factor towards reduced yields. Some winter cover crops would probably be a good idea as erosion is getting really bad. Completely exposed bare dirt all winter that washes out easily.
