Sure wish this buck was a 10 instead of an 8 I got one quite similar to what you show here....and he is an 8'er too. He is all over my place on a daily basis. I know where he beds and where he eats (currently). I plan to let him walk.....but I know my neighbors wont. That is the issue.

Here is the 8 living on my place. Got better pics....just can't find them. Very symmetrical.

Sure wish this buck was a 10 instead of an 8 It looks like he's trying to grow a 5th point on this side. He has long main beams and is a really solid buck. I know what I'd do-

I forgot to mention the dates are wrong on my pics. They were actually from this morning. That buck will likely be the best around until the rut. It'll be tough to pass him since the neighbors won't.

I know what I'd do- He does have a small 5th point on his right beam. This buck reminds of a buck my SIL shot 4 or 5 years ago. That buck turned into a 150"+ 12 pointer the year he was shot. I watched that buck for at least 2 years prior to my SIL shooting him. He added 2 points his final year.

^ My son in law wants us to hold off on those 8 pointers too. He is all about a trophy rack. The neighbors here say that the bucks have gotten progressively better racks over the years. Said all their bucks in the past had small bacsket racks and no long or high tines. Tho I have seen about 5 really nice bucks come from this neighborhood. Largest went over 170 points. I feel I'm getting too old to wait for an bigger buck. Not sure if I can get trigger control on that posted....as it's been a long time since a good deer for me. Have not set any goals yet.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with shooting your 8 pointer....unless you'll feel like shit after doing it anyway. If you want to shoot 140"s or better, you can't shoot them when they're 120-125". My intentions at this point are to let my 8 pointer walk if he gives me a shot. I do reserve the right to change my mind however

I always say to shoot a deer you are happy with. That is the purpose of the hunt.
I respect the landowner’s right to make rules for his property.

I said we just dont get shooters on cam. We wont shoot does. I guess i wont ever shoot a deer again. Jimmy said the same. He gets nothing on cam on his 250 acres worth a shit. Awesome having a couple guys in the neighborhood on board. But so many mowing them down between us. :/ It is what it is.

I look at the buck I shot a few years ago with split tines and think about what he could have become if I didn't shoot him that year. I regret shooting that buck. With my self imposed rule of any buck that I shoot is getting shoulder mounted, it becomes a bit easier to let bucks walk away unharmed.

It is somewhat uncommon at my place to have a buck on camera multiple years in a row. I'm hoping that changes as my logged out areas get thicker and are a bigger draw. I can't remember passing up a nice buck that I've even seen the following year.
You guys have more restraint than I do, I don't think I could ever pass up the biggest buck I have on camera in the hopes he gets bigger next year AND gives me a crack at him.

It's not all that common here, but the few that I have been able to follow for several years turn into pretty nice bucks. The north neighbors tend to shoot most of them the year before they should be shot (IMO). Every year for the last 6-7 years here I get an influx of bucks during the rut. Inevitably, at least one of those bucks is pretty nice. I don't want to pay for a shoulder mount of a buck like the 8 pointer in my pic. I would happily pay for a shoulder mount of that same buck in another year (two would be even better) though.

If the bucks head your way during the rut, that’s a huge plus. In my opinion, bucks will know where the prime stuff is. They don’t always live there year round, but they show up at key times !!
