This past season I started having problems pulling my vertical bow back. When ever I practiced I would pay the price with my shoulders feeling like they were going to fall off. To many years of pulling chain binders at my job. So when I was bow hunting I limited my shots to under 20 yards due to not getting in enough practice. Well I treated myself to a new crossbow. Got a Ravin r9. This crossbow is amazingly accurate. Looking forward to using it for the upcoming season.

I'm sure you will like it. The wife and I both switched to cross bows. Both are nail drivers.

I am having shoulder surgery in march, have not given it one thought about going crossbow yet. Don't care if other people do, but I will throw rocks at the deer with my left hand before I buy a cross bow!
They sure look cool though!

I gave a Ravin9 to my old man for Christmas... That thing is more of a rifle than a bow.... Pretty amazing technology! Not my jam but no judgements.
Mo - set aside a chunk of time post surgery. I had a shoulder "decompression" surgery in 2012. The surgeon discovered my bicep tendon had a hole the size of a quarter so he sunk a screw in the bone and tied off the frayed ends.... Recovery was brutal! Swimming was the key to getting my arm back.

Looks pretty high tech Tom. If it keeps you in the stand and harvesting deer humanely I think it's a good idea.
Enjoy.

Yea I was really torn about getting a crossbow as I really enjoyed my vertical bow. After watching a mid 140's buck standing at 35 yards while bow hunting with vertical bow and not shooting due to not being able to practice enough to be confident in shot the decision was easier.

Nice bow! Very Compact from the looks. Those limbs look wicked....yet surprisingly compact. How much do they extend our when fired. I always worry about hitting my blind with the limbs when firing. It would not be a good experience I'm sure.

It would not be a good experience I'm sure. 6.5 inches ata cocked and 10.5 inches ata uncocked. It has a built in crank to cock it or uncock it. Push a button in and the crank is totally quiet.

I am screwed with the swimming, I sink like a rock, other than a hot tub.
