Love turkeys. Absolute riot having birds drum into the dekes at 5 yards. Taking off for NE tomorrow morning for the annual trip. Hopefully empty the quiver a time or 2!

We have some good turkey habitat on our farms, and usually shoot one or two a year. Numbers are down a bit though. This is Andrew (my oldest son) last spring.

I must be the only one who has never turkey hunted. I do like to here them in the spring, as long as they are not on my land.

My daughter got a small bruise on her shoulder shooting at squirrels last fall while wearing a T shirt. She has been a little afraid of the .410 since then.
I asked last night about her thoughts on shooting the .410 before turkey season.
Her response..... Can I cut one's head off again?
LOL
Crossbow is fine with me.

How much of any of my standing sorghum should I mow to make that area more attractive to turkeys? If I do it today that's is a little over a week for them to adjust.

To be safe, I should probably just leave it alone, or cut all of it in my standard farming practice of prepping the site for this years crop. Not that anybody would know what I did anyways.

I know some one that did the same thing you proposed but with corn, that got fined by DNR . They said he would have been ok if he had cut all of it and tilled it under.

Walking back home after one of his first turkeys. I got behind to shut a gate and he was getting tired and didn't want to stop. I looked up and thought it would make a great pic. It's one of my favorite pics of the kid.
