Depends on how it's moving, the area I have to shoot at, and the rest I have. I've shot them at all different angles and places. Front chest facing me, head shot moving, neck because that's all I had to shoot at, chest/heart broadside, rear neck running straight away from me up a hill, etc. All depends on the setup and time I have.

Here is a good video to discuss this. Was just passing time.....and thought I would throw this up. I do shoot for different areas at times depending on what is avaibable. But I '"like" the high shoulder shot the best.....and I like to focus on the "off shoulder' to deliver a shot through the deer to a point high in the shoulder on the other side of the deer. Saying that....it all depends....but that is usually my "go to" shot. I dont think I have "tracked" a deer in 15 years.....maybe more.

Most often I go for heart/lungs, behind the shoulder.
I don’t like to ruin the shoulder meat.

Just behind the shoulder, heart or double lung. Deer can’t breath and typically tip over within 30 yards.

People shoot deer with guns?
Braised shoulder is good eats. I like shooting thru the ribs and lungs. I see most bow kills drop within sight.

I always coach the kids and newbies I take out to aim right behind the crease behind the shoulder. Just below midline. I want them to have something specific to focus on, something you can look at besides the whole deer.
