Has anybody done an Ontario/Manitoba fly in trip in Late August or early September? If so, how did the fishing compare to spring/early summer? Totally different patterns? Cool/cold nights? Steadier weather patterns? Would you go that time of year again?
My wife has never experienced the kind of fishing you get on a fly in trip and I think she may enjoy such a trip. Probably only do 3-5 days or so. I've done plenty of June and July trips, but have never gone late in the summer. I'd like to do at least one more fly in trip before I'm dead.

Later September might be hot for Lake Trout.
I only did one fly in trip, but many boat on trips. Not quite the same. My emphasis was on Musky.

Pretty much pike and walleyes. We did catch a few big whitefish/tullibees I guess. I did a number of drive/boat in trips too. Good fishing, but nothing like a fly in. Even the "challenged" can catch a shit load of fish on a fly in.

Haven’t done a fly-in in 30 years but we used to do a drive-in during august. Had some very good years and some slower ones. Fish are definitely deeper.

Man, I now remember how much reading/research I used to do for a fly in trip. I'm so out of touch with outfitters/lakes/etc. I'm not sure I want to do the work required to figure out where to go.
Maybe we'll just rent a VRBO in MN somewhere...
