Calm winds suck. Deer don't move well and pooling scent is a problem. You have a Banks blind though right? That will contain your scent so if you can get in there without boogering anything up go for it. I've got one. It's worked very well for Omaha Steve when winds weren't great. He hunted all last season in it and never got winded, and there were days I didn't think it'd work. He had deer in front of him every sit. I hope that's not the only solution and this season has just been a run of bad luck as far as winds go. I'm going to shift my hunt schedule a little next year as well. Instead of taking 5 day hunt chunks like this every other week, I will probably do 3 4-day weekends in a row. I'd take friday and a half day thursday off the last three weeks leading up to rifle. That should hedge my bets better against the wind. Quality blinds are game changers. I’d rather hunt in a tree but they are fantastic to have on plots and areas with swirling winds. I second checking out the Hunting Beast website to learn buck bedding tendencies and scout up some spots. It takes a lot of dedication but finding a bunch of spots in the public will help keep the pressure on you reasonable.
