You for any of you guys that regularly have giants roaming around and are in a known good (popular) spot, where ever that may be. What is it like hunting there? Is it possible to have a natural hunt during gun season, or is it just balls to the walls chaos with one guy for every ten acres all around you?

Chaos
Lots of 40s. All owned by different people. Makes it tough.
Relative has a 40 1/2 mile east. Had 11 guys one year. Its a shitshow.

Neighbors are the key, so far mine have been normal. Land is not split up into small acreages so I don't see the chaos. There is hunting pressure but not crazy lots of people.

Kooch County - Neighbor to my East, one maybe two guys, ~240 acres. Me - 80 acres, me and the wife. To my West - 80 Acres, one dude, his dad, and a bunch of kids rotating through killing multiple small deer Across the street - 80 Acres, an old man and his grandson To my North, thousands of acres of swamp...
I think there might be more wolves than people. Plenty spikes and forks.

No giants around here. 200" are unbelievably rare. Acreage depends on research. A guy could have 5 or 6 neighboring landowners if you choose poorly, or one or two. A "natural hunt" during firearm season isn't likely unless you own half a section or more.

It all depends on the neighbors. I'm in central Ohio. Big buck territory. Ten years ago there was a lot more pressure on our borders during gun season. West neighbor had a bunch of guys doing drives back and forth on his 140 acres all during gun season. Grandsons inherited and booted everyone off. Neighbor to the south would have 10-15 guys on about 500 acres. They've really scaled back the number of hunters. I could always count on someone running deer to me at first light or lunch time. One opening day, I counted 75 deer in the morning alone. Now, gun season is like bow season. Pretty much no pressure. I kinda miss it.

This will be my first rifle season here at the new place in the otc and I won't be rifle hunting(thank God). From what I seen last year driving around it's not bad. There was 15 deer in one field at 4 in the afternoon and quite a few nice bucks(3.5+) hanging in a few camps.
My bow hunting has been unbelievable. I seen 12-20 deer a night and daylight buck activity I've never seen before.

I usually have about 3 neighbors hunting 400 acres to the north, to the East I have about 6 for the first weekend....then tapering off. To the south I have up to three....but they are across a big wetland area. Normally on the west I have two or three hunters....but this year I dont think they are hunting. The closest stand tipped over....and he is too busy to fix it. Should be a low pressure hunt for us.
Lots has changed in ten years. 50% less pressure?

Gun is a shit show. But archery hunting is fun. If we could bump the season back (I know not likely) we’d be one of the best states, maybe the best !! I can only dream of 3 weeks of bow hunting nice bucks without the onslaught of orange.

That's history though. Never happen again in my lifetime anyway

I've got a text group with the guys in my camp. We were discussing the elements of a perfect hunting property. The discussion ended with there being no place to go to have a peaceful gun hunt due to human pressure. My position was to take up the bow to find inner peace.

I try really hard to have a buck down before rifle as I can. Things become a clusterfuck in a hurry once the orange army is out.
