I was just asked to participate in a crow hunt this coming weekend so thought I would see if anyone has done it and can offer some tips. It's through a local bar so nothing serious but I've never done it before. I have a Foxpro electronic call and I was thinking I should pick up a few decoys. Any advice?

Absolute blast of a hunt! Bring plenty of shells. I prefer a duck load (lots of shot; 12 gage = 1.25 ounce, 20 gage = 1.125 ounce) and a full choke for longer shots. Camo as crows are weary. Crow decoys and an owl decoy with your electronic call should work. Crows get plum stupid with this set-up.

At least they do in Wisconsin. Usually had to move to new area after a round of shooting.

We will have plenty of spots to move around, I'm hunting with nephews of the biggest farmer in the area. What purpose does an owl decoy serve just out of curiousity? Is it legal to use bait?

Crows love piles of deer corn...
They also hate owls. Your e-call should replicate a group of crows fighting an owl. This gets them worked up and they come right in, the owl decoy helps the set-up.

We shot 25 crows for the tournament. Not that great but a lot of fun. We took 9th place, better planning for next year hopefully. Winners shot 146.
