Eeeeew. I but Art has an opinion. Cattle can get several types of infection in their tongue or mouth. I have seen that in cattle from eating hay with foxtail awns. A stick stuck between the teeth can do it.

Is that a pile of slobber on the ground? Yes. She shows up with dry ground. Stands there sticking her tongue out like she's chewing her cud. And the pool grows. The first time I saw it I thought blood, but her broadside pics show no wounds and her mouth doesn't look stained. Sandbur probably nailed it.

Maybe she's got a stick stuck in the back of her throat?

I also thought that red arrow location looked a little odd, but I can't tell if that's the deer or a light colored rock behind it.

Maybe she's got a stick stuck in the back of her throat? Maybe abscesses. The problems we saw in cattle had the common names of wooden tongue and lumpy jaw. Neither one of those was the known result of foxtail awns.

Maybe she's trying to get the democrat nomination for president in 2024?

I think that doe needs to be taken out of the herd. I bet she is always pretty close to water if she loses gallons of spit per day.

I was pretty young, maybe close to 40yrs ago? I might give her a go just to get a look at what's going on there. My camera takes bad night pics when the batteries get low. I should change them and see if I get her again.
