Probably No Apples for Me This Year

i missed frost last night and at this point, plums and just a few crab apples are blooming. I must be 25 days behind some years on peak bloom.

Perhaps many trees are resting this year with few blossoms.

Looks like the cold damp week during bloom took its toll, very few apples on most of the trees.

Finally got up to our river bottom place today. Never got up there during the bloom but I think we avoided any late frosts. Apples are about the size of marbles right now. Didn’t see them on every tree but I did a pretty quick check. Most trees had some. Some looked pretty loaded. See where they’re at in a month I guess. Need the trapper to get rid of some coons soon. Otherwise I’ll have problems. Didn’t notice any pest issues yet.

Interesting how much farther along your trees are than mine.  I've still got unopened blossoms on some trees.  The largest fruitlets I have now are on pear trees and they may be 1/4"

Blossoms are about done and I need to spray this week.

. I have used the mixture in the small bottle but will switch to the other product when the first is gone.

why? I couldn’t find the first product when I ordered a year or so ago.

I sprayed this morning. The mosquitoes were horrendous.

The old product was a suspension with some residual action. The new product(big jug) has a much shorter duration. I still think I will just spray twice and see what happens.

I normally use a plastic cup to measure with. The new product ate thru the cup.


Stu, how soon will you spray again?
I only saw 2-3 blossoms.
