How much money do you guys give for gifts to people who give you high school graduation invites? I dont know the kids well and haven't been around them in a decade since they are kids of cousins I don't see often. But I was close to my cousins years ago. If someone sends me an invite I send them some money, but I'm not sure what is common in this case
What do you guys do in cases like this?

My oldest just graduated so this has been a topic. Graduation was last Saturday and we threw a party on Sunday. We have been watching to see what others do to guide us when we need to start writing checks.
The low has been $30 for my daughter receiving. $50 is common.
I have a cousin that I was pretty close to when we were kids. I might see him once a year now and I don’t really know his kids. We didn’t give his kid anything and expect nothing in return. If they lived closer and we were closer we would give.
I think we gave $100 to nieces and nephews over the years. But we are pretty close to the ones on my side of the family.

Funny how times have changed. When I graduated.....long time back......a dollar or two was what was in a card. A five was like a miracle.....lol. We did allot of twenties when our kids (now in their 40's were grads. Inflation marches on. Good to know.....thanks.

We just finished up graduation here. I get pretty close with some of my students/athletes and their families and attend every party that I'm invited to. I usually give $20's but this year I only gave $10 per kid. I felt cheap doing it but to be honest I couldn't afford to go higher for all of them. Last year when my oldest graduated $20 was common.

I think $50 is the new $20 Truth! Daughter just received a card from my aunt and uncle. They are pretty well off and retired. It had a $50. Ultimately it comes down to what you can afford which may depend on the number of kids you know. Bigger bucks is easy for a few kids. If you know 30 kids, you gotta draw the line somewhere. I don’t think anyone sits around and judges a person on the size of the gift. Well maybe some do but we don’t. Inflation is a bitch for everyone.

I'd have a hard time remembering the amount of any gift like that for our kids at graduation. Old saying is "its the thought that counts" .....and in most cases that is the point.

Amazing differences in the amount of leafs on the trees between Nisswa and Minneapolis area. amazes me every spring and fall. I think we get an extra month (or more) of winter at Nisswa.

Two weeks more at the beginning and two weeks at the end...easily. And this year it was more like 3 and 3.

It’s more like an $80 bill the way I see it.
