There is a piece of property that has a CRP contract that pays out in October. If a person bought the property this summer, does the CRP contract/payment automatically transfer to the new owner?
Does the purchase agreement have to spell out the CRP transfer to the new owner?
Does the new owner have to apply for CRP upon purchase?
CRP is new to me. Give me the cliff notes. Asking for a friend.

Asking for a friend. So yes you have to address the CRP. You must sign that you will continue it and maintain it. Second, you can pro-rate the CRP or you can ask for the 2022 payment. The CRP contract is October to October !
I always ask for the entire CRP payment.

The one chunk I sold to the boys had an active CRP contract that I collected in October even though we closed in The summer before. Just both have to agree to where that payment goes. It was pretty simple. Now they have to sign up the new contract for next year and agree to all the rules.
