This is the turnip / radish patch in my garden that I planted after digging potatoes. Will deer eat the brassica once it has started to flower? I am surprised how tall it got, but am now tempted to mow it off and till it in for organic matter in the garden. Don’t tell foggy, but the brassica in the tilled patch came up much quicker than the broadcasted brassica.

I fear that tall brassica one the spring will shade the garden and delay soil warming. This area will probably be squash and cukes next year, so it won’t be an early planted crop.

The deer by my place like brassicas and will eat it all, flowers or not. The brassicas seem to get eaten or melt away by spring planting time, so I don't think you will have any residue issues that will cause problems with your planting next year.

Brassica have been 90% ignored here, for years. Now our deer population is higher and perhaps it will change.

The deer here weren't sure of brassicas right away, but now they love them. It is always nice planting into an old brassica plot the following spring because there is nothing left. What isn't eaten seems to rot quickly in the spring.

I watched deer eat mine for an hour Friday night. 14 deer, including 7 bucks. They don't wait for a frost. Hopefully they thin them out a bit because I planted too thick...again.

I know there is also a field of them to the north, but haven’t seen many deer there. I suspect acorns are the draw right now, but alfalfa and sweet corn were hit hard up until last week.
