I bought a $600 70” Samsung last December and a $300 sound bar. I like the setup. Much better than the previous 46” Samsung I had. I just can’t spend $2,000 on a tv.

I'm pretty sure I paid close to 3x more for the 47" Samsung we have now than I did for the 65" Vizio and Vizio sound bar I ordered last night. If we get 10 years out of the new one, I'll be happy(and surprised).

I wouldn't be surprised if you get 10 out of yours.

TV was pretty easy to set up. I bought a new "full range" wall mount for it and got it hung today. Looks good. Sound bar should be here by the end of the week. I hope that's just as easy to set up/figure out.
Sure would be nice if there was good quality high speed internet available here. I guess I'm going to have to look at Starlink

I have heard great things about starlink. Most of what I've heard is good too. I do have concerns about obstructions though. It sounds like if you have anything in the way at all you're pretty much screwed. I've got obstructions in many directions.

I think we ended up with Visio. IT'S HUGE! We like it a lot but high tech TV's aren't our thing so anything that turns on and looks decent is considered nice to us.
I've heard great things about Starlink too. It isn't available this far south though.

I will add when buying something new and worried about lemons or junk I google the model number with the words "fix, problems, how to, parts". Things that come up with a ton of hits get taken off my short list. I curently have a TV sitting under the bed. It was given to me when it broke. I researched it and found it's a real common problem with that TV and it's an easy fix with a few electrical parts if you have a soldering gun. Problem is everyone is sold out of those parts.

It took several hours for the new TV to download updates and whatever else it needed to start up. It would have taken a couple minutes in most suburban/urban areas. Once it got updated, I can skip all the "smart" features so we can just watch satellite TV. Starlink kind of reminds me of the huge old satellite TV dishes. I think it's the first-generation version of something that will become much more refined and accessible as time goes on.

Often pixelly if watching streaming and takes forever to download. The boy's X-Box downloads games online. Usually takes 2-3 weeks to get a game downloaded. Drives them nuts!

However, it doesn't take up room with a big subwoofer and 5 speakers mounted around the room.

Way better sound than just the tv and like you said, doesn't take up any room basically.
