Need some advice. Looking for a snowmobile or two for kicking around on the trails and lakes in my area. Looking for a good solid machine that I don’t need to fix all the time and not too crazy fast so my son doesn’t kill himself. Suggestions? I was told to look for skidoo or Polaris.

I road Skidoo for many years and they were very good machines. Stay away from Cat as they have reliability issues. Most of the people who I road with are out of it now so I don't know of any machines for sale right now. I'll keep my eyes open.

I had Polaris excluseively for many years. Bulletproof. But its been 20 years so zero idea on todays.
Amazing how awesome their sleds were and what trash the atvs were.

I have a ‘68 evinrude sitting in a shed. Maybe even the handful of old spark plugs are sitting next to it.

I've had both Polaris & SkiDoo's. Never had issues with either. The SkiDoo rode nicer IMO so the wife rode that one. That was fine with me as I did a lot of changes to the Polaris for drag racing. Needless to say it was a rocket on the trails even when detuned.
