Are there any oyster look a likes in the wild? I think I found some last spring but they were past prime so I didn’t sample. Elm oyster, but they are edible. Just not as good.
Jack-o-lantern if you really suck at id, and have a creative imagination. They are deadly.
Other lookalikes don't inhabit North America.

Whenever I see this thread headline I think of the raw seafood oysters which I like.
I was in Vermont yesterday and bought an indoor oyster mushroom kit at a country store so we will see how they grow.

Being a farm vet, I think of Rocky Mountain oysters. The next time I shoot a mature buck, I’m cooking them and taking pics just for you. At the rate I shoot bucks, that may take several years.
