Hard Red Wheat
Small White Bean
Some prepper food was getting thrown out and I couldn't have that. Not sure what the hell I'll end up doing with most of it as it isn't stuff I normally eat. Likely some of it will go to the neighbor's 'bird' feeder. Shipping date looks to be from '99, so Y2K preps, and would make this stuff over 20 years old.
The Hard Red Wheat was sealed inside the plastic 6 gallon pail in some sort of foil packaging. Doesn't look like anything is wrong with it. The Small White Bean was only in the 6 gallon pail, but also looks good. Put some of both in wet paper towels for a germination test for grins.
Would you eat either? Guesses on if either will sprout?

Johnson Grass and Palmer A. seed would still sprout, might as well assume wheat and beans will sprout too.

I’d bet on sprouting.

I would also bet on it sprouting. I would not eat it but I would feed wildlife or try and plant some of it.

I wouldn't eat them, but I'd plant them if they pass the germination tests.
I'm impressed with how good the seeds look after 20 years.

no sprouts.
The beans got tossed last Monday after they began to smell, bad.
The wheat swelled as much as in the 12/30 pic posted, and no more.
*disclaimer: The house thermostat has been at 60-64 degrees. Not sure if the seeds were warm enough for sprouting.
