Anyone ever start garden plants in rootmaker 18’s? Have a couple of trays that’s I’m not going to use for oaks and got started thinking about starting garden plants indoors. What says you?

I’ve never used rootmakers, but I used to start veggies indoors in pots and transplant outdoors.
It works ok, but you need air flow to build strong stems. I gave up planting indoors after most grew tall and spindly and would snap off after transplanting outdoors when they met wind.

I gave up planting indoors after most grew tall and spindly and would snap off after transplanting outdoors when they met wind. Yoder chestnut experiments showed that a fan set on low for 2 hours 22 minutes and 33 seconds a day would help stiffen the seedling trunks. Increasing that slightly by 27 seconds a day as they progressed. Kidding. I hope he has recovered from his covoid. I think the root maker 18s would work but, I’d try to time it so you had them planted 30 days or less before your last frost. Rotating the trays every few days with plenty of light. They can get leggy as they reach for sunlight.
