Use to have chickens on the farm every year until the neighbors dogs kept coming over and killing them. Daughter bought 15 chicks 3 weeks ago. I am now building a coop with a chicken run mounted on the end of this old running gear I just put some 3/4” treated plywood on. She wants a coop she can move around the farm with a 4 wheeler. I will post more pictures of the progress as it goes. Any of you guys have chickens? Like them, hate them?

We raise meat birds every other year. We don't eat many eggs so there's no point in raising layers.
Good luck with them. My neighbor has a bunch of "free range" layers. They're not going to make it too long if I keep seeing them on my place.

I buy eggs from an old couple near the cabin. They just went from $2 up to $3 per dozen. I like it when others raise chickens.

The wife would love to have some chickens but the village won't allow it here. I wouldn't mind either as I have eggs just about daily. I also eat a fair amount of chicken.

We have 8 adults and 5 new chicks. All layers. I eat a lot of eggs so I like them. It’s fine in the summer when they free range but in the winter it sucks more as they lay less and eat more store bought food as they’re not free ranging.

May help them lay more in the winter
