Now that it seems like every hunter in MN uses a crossbow, are there shops full of high quality used compound bows?
Crossbows are only legal in SD if you can’t pull 30LB and I think I need a bow. Bow tags are OTC here. Firearm tags are by drawing and about 50-50 or worse depending on county.
I could have killed several deer with a bow this season when I was out scouting. Now that crops are out my place is a wasteland.

If we had any archery shops left, they would have plenty of used bows for sale. Best we have is scheels, and they do have used bows. Archery talk forum has a classified section, and you can get last year’s flagship for a steep discount if you keep an eye out.
I hunt mostly public land here, and every single yokle has a crossgun as they are legal for anyone that has the money. Our deer herd is a shadow of its former self. On top of that I believe the drought severely affected antler growth of mature bucks. Its been a tough year.

Crossbows, might as well use a shotgun with slugs.

I was considering selling my old Mathews, but I'm sure I'd be lucky to get $200. For that much, I'll just let it gather dust. I've been going back and forth in my mind on buying a new crossbow and hunting with it through firearm season, or buying a Savage 220 with a decent scope and being done with archery hunting all together. I also had the idea of taking Dad's old .308 out to a boxblind the week before firearm season and using it instead of the Ithaca I carry with me I sure would like to hunt with his old rifle here someday, but I'd prefer to do it legally.
