Bumping this thread because it came up in searches for me. There are a fair bit of deer on my land but ZERO bucks this year. The prior 3 years (how long I’ve owned it) it was a boys party every night in the food plots from august til the rut. I don’t know of any odd neighbor situations that would cause it.
A guy on another forum posted a pic of a stud he killed at night with thermal/suppressor/subsonic ammo and it made a lightbulb go off. Just feels like it could be depredation or worse, poaching. I’ll reach out to my area manager to inquire. I’m curious smsmith why landwehr told you not to contact yours?

I may have used some abusive, belittling, and profane language in prior emails

Yes, with a depredation tag. Farmers with depredation permits can shoot them whenever they please and this dude was apparently targeting mature bucks at night with a thermal scope.

That's crazy if they allow thermal scopes for night hunting deer.

Virginia I think. rokslide.com/forums/threads/which-way-to-go-with-a-re-barrel.372901/#post-3789478It’s not hunting (wink wink).. it’s “depredation culling”. I’m pretty sure landowners with depredation permits in MN can do just that.
