Can't wait to see some deer pics using the waterhole. Throw a salt block next to it so it dissolves into the water edge, deer go crazy for that.

I would like to get some more ideas on ponds. I have done the Menards tubs, but looking for a bit bigger. I will need to add a few small ones in Iowa, possibly back up one small creek as well. Any good advice on some inexpensive ponds.

Any good advice on some inexpensive ponds. Hire a dozer and have it done right. For $1000 I’ll bet a good operator could put 2-3 small ponds in.

One other thing, be careful on the "backing up of small creeks" talk, DNR man no likely that talk unless the water starts and terminates on your property exclusively. "IF" they let it happen, it would most likely require permits for the permits to do that actual work.

Any good advice on some inexpensive ponds. I've done several with a skid steer. They can move a lot of dirt in short order but it helps to know if you have clay under the top soil and stuff like that. Creeks are hard as good flows tend to cut damns if you don't have them just right.

A bulldozer or a large backhoe are definetely the most effective and the most expensive. A skidloader with rubber tracks is a great alternative. If you're located in sand contact your local commercial roof company and ask for some remnants from their next flat roof tear off. Should range in price from free to $3/sq.
I've got an old rubber roof coming off a building in Mankato in May if anybody wants some free material.

Gonna try a combo of Fleet Farm Tubs and a couple of small man made ponds for the first year. Long term there is a dam with a huge drain that I am looking at backing up.

I am cleaning out the pole barn, and have 8 bags of grout I want to get rid of. They use it to seal old water wells. My cousin who is a well driller says guys use it to make ponds. I guess after you dig the hole you spread a layer across it and it seals the ground so it holds water a lot better. If someone wants it let me know.
