Just received 50 dolgo seedlings from them and I am very impressed. I ordered 12-18" trees and got ones that are in the 24-36" range. Very good caliber and packaged better than any trees I have got from anywhere else. Pretty impressive for a small order.

Are you getting them in the ground right away and caging them. Is that nursery out of Wisconsin?

Are you getting them in the ground right away and caging them. Is that nursery out of Wisconsin? Saturday. I have 3' tubes on order, hopefully they get here. If not I will plant and tube next weekend. Hopefully the deer don't find them. I also have a couple hundred shrubs to plant. I am turning an acre into a Dolgo thicket with dogwood and ninebark.

Those are great looking roots on those trees. What are thoughts on if you buried those deeper than a normal grafted tree? Would they produce a better tree in the long run like planting tomatoes deeper?

wow those are nice! You gonna graft to any of them down the line? Gonna look them up an see what all they have to offer! Leaving my options open. I won't graft to these trees but will graft the winners out of this batch. Not sure how much variation there will be in 50 trees but I am hoping there are 4-5 gems in there. I have 50 B.118 and M.111 rootstocks planted in their final spot that I plan on grafting to at some point. First I have to practice grafting and figure out a way to have grafts survive the snow pack. I had a hand full of 3-4 year old trees snap off at the 4' mark this winter. I usually loose one or two a year. I don't see how a graft will make it unless I can graft above 5'.
