i was looking on the website this morning and see they have quite a few trees added back into inventory. I'm guessing cancellations or their counts were off. Quite a few on B118 or M111 that would be good for zone 3. The wife looked at me cross eyed when I brought it up. I need 9 more trees to finish my orchards. I'm really tempted but the forecast after this shitty weather looks dry for the 15 day forecast.

If you finished this year what would you do next year with all of your apple tree planting time?

I'd pass this year. You might get trees breaking dormancy now too. You also can think about what varieties you really want and get those rather than leftovers.
The rootstock I got from Cummins last week popped leaves in two days so I'd worry the trees might not be dormant.

Next year I'm looking at 10 or 20 more. I am expanding one of my plots since I bought the tractor. The plot will be L shaped. The short part of the L will need a row of trees along its border. The long part of the L is currently clover and rye and the new part will be brassicas. I currently have 18 apple and crabs around the plot. It's just a matter of doing a row of 10 or two rows of 10😀. Then I will be done!

Jordan,
I'd look at southern nurseries like century farms and trees of antiquity for those.
