When can you chip bud graft?
I have some scions left and a few older B118 rootstock. Can I chip bud those with this years scions or do I wait until August to get new cuttings and bud wood?

I tried chip budding two summers back and it was a complete failure.

I was at a local garden center yesterday and saw this chip grafted espalier tree with 4 types of apples on it. $149.95. Ouch. You can can see where they chip budded each of the limbs.

I believe one of the advantages of chip budding is that it can be done at most any time.
