Anybody tried Bramley's Seedling apples? Sounds like a winner. I'll be grafting some this March.
Parentage/Origin: Propagated from a notable seedling; c. 1809 Nottinghamshire, England. Harvest/Season: Harvest: early October. Season: October-March. Description: Fruit large, greenish. Flesh firm, juicy, sharply acid, and high in vitamin C. Tree Characteristics: Highly resistant to apple scab; tolerant to cedar apple rust, fireblight, and powdery mildew. The tree is large, vigorous, and spreading; it will tolerate some shade. Heavy and regular bearer. Triploid

I planted one on my folks' old place, but it was sold before the tree produced. I think it's supposed to be the "best" apple for pies

So it's a triploid which means it doesn't pollinate other varieties but, I've got plenty of varieties.
I've got an old tree on the lawn at the camp that produces apples that look like the Bramley.

Mo, I'll be honest. I've overlooked the trees near the camp and focused on the trees further out on May land that needed more care. I think this is the tree. It's about 30' high and needs some pruning and clearing behind it.

Because of your infatuation with Stephen Hayes NH, is this the reason why Bramleys is under your consideration. It's ok if it is, i'm obsessed with that guys videos, I don't know if its the accent or his passion for apples that leaps out at my but a lot of what i'm grafting this year is because he talked about them.

BV, I was looking at cider apples from Cummins and it was at the top of the list. I'll have to look at Hayes' videos for the Bramley.
