Got some fun mail yesterday... Anyone else get theirs yet? This was my first bear - a dry 280# sow. Anyone save all their patches - it mentioned the program started around 1980. What's the oldest bear you've shot?

No successful bear hunts here but that's a pretty cool program. Nice bear if I remember the photo/video correctly.

I shot a nice boar a few years ago that was aged at 9 years old. I got same patch and thought is was a nice gesture/gift. I wouldn't have guessed him to be that old. He was in perfect shape and prime of his life.

Funny. How come our deer team doesnt collect any age data?

I have often thought the same thing Mark. Even a small random sample size would give us some good results in my opinion and be affordable

They collected sex and age of all the deer in SE MN this year. Or they claimed they were going to .

Oldest bear I've ever shot was a 14 year old dry sow that dressed out at 226# near Upper Red Lake, MN . I have no idea where my patches are though.

Those are some old bears! Pretty cool how they can elude hunters that long. I've got an 8 year old doe where I hunt that I thought was old.
I wonder if bear research dollars are covered from bear license sales or dipped into deer license dollars for funding? I don't mind paying higher license fees when the dollars are being put to good use like Bear. I only wish there was some reciprocity with deer in this state.

I am going by memory, but I think my wife shot a 17 year old sow and I shot a 7 year old sow.
