How about toxicity with pasture pigs? All my food, grown and poured, is now for domestics. If a deer happens to eat it...well....darn it!

Forecast is showing some decent rain this week, so I figured what the heck...let's get a bayou forage kale spray/pray plot done. I had sprayed the house plot about a month ago to burn down thistles and rye. I had a bunch of pigweed and foxtail get started since then, so I re-nuked it this morning. I spread the seed before spraying just so I'd get a bit of packing from the atv tires.
We'll see what happens. If the forecast is accurate, I'll probably get some fertilizer down right before/during the rain.

I was watching a video a week or so ago, and I someone mention a kale hybrid that is supposed to more graze tolerant than regular kale, along with being more palatable than regular brassicas. I can't remember where I saw it though. Is it possible that stuff can rebound from early grazing if it has time?

Of course, that comes from farms where they move cattle/sheep into paddocks of the stuff, then remove them for long enough to allow the kale to grow again. The same is true of most all of the newer brassica hybrids

I am really interested with the results you see Stu! Both for whitetails and pigs. I love the cover crop technology/plantings for my goals. Note: I guarantee it rains, HARD, this week in my area. I have a dozer coming out to do the finishing fence line work on wednesday

I have a dozer coming out to do the finishing fence line work on wednesday I'm interested in to see how the stuff holds up during winter. I added maybe 3-5% green globe turnips just for a bit of diversity, but it's gonna be a whole buncha kale (if the plot works anyway)
