Anyone have a guess or range on what the approximate value is of one year old bean seed that is bagged? Bulk this years certified seed was about $1.00 per pound according to farmer I am working with. Trying to come up with a fair value. Thanks.

If it RR2 beans they have no value as you can not save seed from one year to the next.

What does that mean?
The seed rules are a bit confusing and odd..... the little I know about it.
I get seed, save seed, buy seed, get free seed, store seed, give seed, sell seed......

The seed companies donate the unused seed with restrictions that it can only be used for wildlife plantings and not be harvested. They get a charitable tax deduction and then NWTF gets to sell a discounted price.

The whole thing with not be able to use left over RR seed is a scam. What other product that you buy that if you have left overs tell you that you can't use it. Total bull shit.

The whole thing is a scam to start with. Think about how much more efficient we could be if we could harvest and reuse seed. Instead we have to truck and ship and pick up new seed every year. That is a lot of time and fuel wasted. I understand Monsanto wants to get paid for their product but it sure would be nice if they would come up with a better system.

Everyone saves seed, BUT, saving traited seed is against the law. It has to be dumped if it is not treated. If treated, it is suppose to go back to who you bought it from. Unless otherwise authorized by Monsanto or any number of seed breeders that may have a patent on the seed.
That is why I say I would not announced it. people get caught and fined heavy for saving seed every year. So Just saying.
